Aaron Chang, Jedidiah & Digital One Raise Awareness
Jedidiah Clothing Launches Special Edition Line with Surf Photographer, Aaron Chang, to Fund New Trauma Recovery Center to Combat Sex Trafficking in Cambodia. Digital One Color and Artware Framing have generously agreed to donate all prints and frames for the show.
SAN DIEGO – (January 21, 2011) – Jedidiah, a humanitarian-based fashion brand, has collaborated with world-renowned surf photographer, Aaron Chang, in a special edition line of T-shirts that will benefit World Vision’s efforts to protect innocent children from the sex trafficking trade in Cambodia. In 2010, Chang accompanied Jedidiah’s founder, Kevin Murray, on a trip to Cambodia to meet and photograph the community. Four of his photos have been used in a collaborative collection by Jedidiah’s design team and are available for sale at www.JedidiahUSA.com. $10 from the sale of each shirt will be used to fund the construction of the international humanitarian agency’s trauma recovery center that will hold more than 70 children per year in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. “The opportunity to use my photographic skills to assist with World Vision’s efforts to combat the very serious problem of human trafficking is one that I don’t take lightly,” explains Chang. “I’m grateful for being offered this assignment by Jedidiah. I appreciate their heart for doing something about a situation that many would rather sit on the sidelines and ignore. The experience in Cambodia was powerful, disturbing, exotic and hopeful all at once in strong degrees of emotion. We can make a difference if we choose to.” The project will be unveiled to the public during an opening reception and show entitled Cambodia: Ray of Hope, Saturday, Feb. 5, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Aaron Chang Ocean Art Gallery, 415 S. Cedros Ave., Suite 110 in the Cedros Design District. The show is open to the public and will feature a special Limited Edition collection of photographs from Chang’s trip to Cambodia with the Jedidiah team, as well as the collaborative clothing collection. Additionally, collaborative art pieces will be on display by Scott Hancock and Wade Koniakowsky. During the event, 50 percent of all art sales will be donated to the trauma recovery center. Barbara Tobler, professional soprano, will be performing during the event. “Aaron Chang is a longtime friend of Jedidiah and we were honored to have him accompany us to Cambodia last year,” explains Kevin Murray, CEO of Jedidiah. “His remarkable photos captured the essence of the beauty of Cambodia, as well as the juxtaposition of their very real and urgent needs for help. We’re excited about the merging of photography and fashion in this powerful and meaningful clothing collection.” The special edition collection of four T-shirts is of sublimated prints on a 50/50 blend of cotton and polyester. The shirts are printed in Los Angeles, CA and are available for sale at www.JedidiahUSA.com. Each shirt is priced at $24 with $10 of each sale being donated to World Vision.
